You won't be able to resist "whiling away the time" in a swing on the expansive front porch with a favorite book. Or, you could take a hike, ride a horse, fish in the nearby Williamsport Public Fishing Lakes or canoe the Piney or Buffalo Rivers. For avid antiques shoppers, there are treasures within 20-30 miles for an afternoon outing. Visit the many area attractions, that is, if you really want to leave the porch!

Leatherwood was formerly a small rural community complete with a general store, churches, a school, gristmills, saw mills and blacksmith shops. Only a handful of homes and remnants of some of the old buildings still remain. The old barn that once served as the community blacksmith shop still stands on the Leatherwood Forge Retreat property.
